Eating disorder groups across Canada to mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2017 with #NotAChoice campaign 

January 30, 2017 (Toronto, ON) – With eating disorders having a higher mortality rate among girls and young women than any other mental health condition, eating disorder groups across Canada will mark Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2017 with a new campaign to reinforce the message that eating disorders are not a choice.

“A Taste For Life” raises funds for National Eating Disorder Helpline

Toronto, ON – May 29, 2015 – Nearly 150 people came out to support the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) at Malaparte - TIFF Bell Lightbox last night.  Proceeds raised will support NEDIC’s national toll-free helpline 1-866-NEDIC-20 (416-340-4156 in Toronto).

Research Suggests That Eating Disorders Are More Common Than Previously Thought
Eating Disorder Awareness Week: February 1 - 7, 2015

January 26, 2015 (Toronto, ON) – In Canada, it is estimated that as many as 600,000 to 990,000 individuals are diagnosed with an eating disorder, at any given time. However, according to a new Ipsos Reid poll conducted on behalf of the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC), one in two (50%) Canadians reported knowing someone (including themselves) who has or has had an eating disorder.
